GET IT ON TIL THE EARLY MORN …

… and for The Bears and Bearettes. Booties will be shaken, downs will be got and homies will generally be hung with. Today is first and foremost about winning the Treble but, coming a very close second (as did a certain other team last week), is the need for us all to give thanks and celebrate being Teddy Bears.

Last Sunday was enjoyable but it was enjoyed at such a deep level, the need to win the championship was so great, that the “partying” took the form of stress relief. You can’t expel the tension we’d felt in the weeks, days, hours and minutes building up to that game by merely singing “Championees” a couple of times. What we went through on the day itself, left most Bears in a state of exhaustion.

Repots are pouring into our newsroom of Bluenoses partying on down til about 7 or 8 o’clock last Sunday evening and then just collapsing in a semi-conscious state of relief. It had all been too much for most of us. Today we get to see our heroes again with the weight of expectation lifted.

The Treble is tremendous, yes. Alex McLeish has been wearing a suit all week which has a 1940’s cut and a Bill Struth pin-stripe. A victory today will at least grant him entry to the club Struth, Symon, Wallace, Smith and Advocaat attend in Ibrox Folklore. But the VITAL thing was to win the league. That’s the minimum requirement - that’s the stamp of approval which re-casts all the genius of these players in a mould of greatness. We won the league. Now let’s enjoy our team.

Amo and Artie Numan will be leaving. A few others may follow. Let’s give those bl**dy heroes a huge send-off. The rest of the team can simply enjoy our heart-felt thanks for the last 18 months. We’re all in white today - I love that strip - it’s a strip meant for heavenly players.

This Rangers team have moved into the pantheon - we’ve moved from worry to joy -let’s CELEBRATE!
