Princes of Denmark!
He’s done it again! Magical Mr McLeish has stunned the doubters - most of the Rangers support included - for the umpteenth time in his short tenure at The Palace.
And, as with every one of his previous seminal reuslts, the biggest win yet of his managerial career was exciting, late and spectacular.
Knocking Celtic out the 2001/2002 CIS Cup took an extra-time blaster by Bert Konterman. That showed Rangers were on the way back.
Beating the same hooped hoorors in the 2002 Scottish Cup final came down to a last minute header by Lovenpants - proving we were ready to win the league again.
We’d actually FINISHED our last SPL match of 2003 and still didn’t know for sure if we’d won the title. But when we did it showed everyone McLeish was a quality Gers gaffer.
And so we should really have known how it would pan out last night. Exciting? … Well, have YOU calmed down yet?! Late? Three minutes to go is about as late as I can handle it, thanks. Spectacular? Arveladze’s goal was world class.
And what does it all prove? That maybe Eck does indeed know what he’s doing in Europe - after all, he’s just got The Gers back into the most important competition in the world game.
Pass round the cigars … oh, and make them Hamlets!
