Editor In Absentia (Absentia being a picturesque village in the Balearics)
I know most Bluenoses, like me, would still be in a state of delirious shock after the most exciting of all our Championship wins which have taken place at Easter Road (If not the most significant) - checking out the websites would be low down the list of priorities. Hoh! - who could keep still long enough to read a flipping web page??!!
It’s weird talking about it even now. Dealing with Rangers defeats is easy - I can find plenty to say about them because that’s when we need to rally the troops: Rangers victories takes less explaining - if your team’s doing the talking on the pitch then no-one really needs to say much:
- but a day like 22nd May 2005! Man, it’s so good it’s almost impossible to describe … and yet everyone else in Red, White and Blue knows EXACTLY how you feel, without a word being exchanged.
But - don’t get too comfy - I’ll nevertheless be giving it a go - attempting to recount at least a few thousand of the million and one emotions I experienced on the day which changed the direction of a helicopter in mid-flight.
As I say, I’ll get to it when I return from me hols on Monday/Tuesday 4th/5th July … next week.
In the meantime I’ve since discovered that I can’t, as promised at the foot of this article, rig up the site to chuck up an old article per day in my absence. (i’d like to blame the technicalities of the site administration for this but who’d believe me! Yese all know it’s because I’ve about as much technical wizardry in me as Marvin Andrews has pessemism).
So, in the meantime, I can recommend ye click on the following link to access an archive of EVERY piece ever written on Gers@OpenFootball:
http://test.openfootball.co.uk/blogs/rangers/index.php/archive/2005
If ye scroll down a bit you’ll see, on the right hand side, a list of months under the heading “Monthly Archive”.
For the purposes of this season, it’s actually pretty bloody hilarious just reading the last few pieces before the game at Easter Road (still available on the home page you’re currently on) - I’m pretending I have absolutely no faith in Rangers winning the title, obviously trying to hide the pain behind a mask of indifferent resignation … but I still manage to lose the bloody plot when we only score 4 against Motherwell at Ibrox the week before Super Sunday (I wasn’t caring though - couldn’t have cared less …!!).
Anyway - thanks again for the feedback, troops and I’ll talk to yese anew next week.
All the Simply The Best,
51 and counting,
We are ra Peeeeeepelle,
Aye Ready - Aye yours,
Fatus Eckus
