HATE ENOUGH FOR YA?!

As a big, fat, gay, BRILLIANT Irishman once said “We may all be lying in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars”

As it’s clearly needed, here’s a wee reminder, at the foot of this page, of four of the seven or eight rants I wrote in the week following Neil Lennon and Martin O’Neill’s Hate-in at brox in November 2004.

If you don’t know what this is about, why I’m deeming it necessary to screen some repeats, have a wee look through the thread under the last rant. Apologies to not be talking about the Scotland-Lithuania game - had a great day up in Section Q of the South Stand on Saturday, not withstanding some of those cheeky chappy Tartan Army “characters” referring to the Lithuanians as “Gypos” all the way through the game and, at one point, a kilted comedian shouting at a green-and-yellow player “I hope yer wife gets raped”. Scotland’s Secret shame right enough.

But we’ll deal with that before Wednesday. Right now, it’s raking-through-shite time - in more ways than one.

Ever since on this blog I’ve carried on in the same vein as the under-noted rants, assuming people will know me by my work. Wrong.

I’m not trying to say I know better - yes I am - but I’m certainly happy to have anyone sort through this lot and accuse me of not giving a flying fart about how Rangers are perceived by the media, mud-slinging Celtic fans or anyone else who gives a shit.

This is all in the FatEck.Co.uk archive at the bottom of this page - go crazy - look up anything ye want.

I thought I’d made my mind-set quite clear when I wrote a piece a few years back saying Martin O’Neill had used his wife’s serious illness as an EXCUSE to leave Celtic smoothly but - hey - seems I didn’t go far enough for some folk.

I know this is all a bit “look how much I care”, very disingenuous, but that’s the climate we’re living in now if you’re a Gers fan. You have to wear the hatred with pride.

And, yes, Marge - I’m being sarcastic.

Even in the light of a performance which should have left Saturdays’s Old Firm misery behind, O’neill couldn’t get out of his ghetto mindset and besmirched a proud night for Celtic by resorting to cheap, misinformed jibes…

…Can I just mention to Celtic AND Rangers supporters alike - Martin O’Neill is NOT A LAWYER. He has absolutely NO qualifications in law and, as far as I can make out, he spent something like a month doing some sort of technical college “introduction to the basics of what law is even about” course which he did not complete seeing as he was dedicating himself to the fitbaw. Wearing specs and investing every utterance with the gravitas of a man announcing the death toll of a national disaster does NOT a solicitor, judge or even half-educated man make….

…What a godsend it must be, knowing that the one thing in this country which gets more coverage than any of our infrastructural and national health problems is the fu**ing fitbaw! That way Jack can use the hype-hate machines that are the Daily Record and The Sun to pick out the one most sweeping generalisation about Scotland’s two most popular clubs - that we’re ONLY about religious hatred - and use it to score a few sensationalist points…

http://www.fateck.co.uk/index.php/2004/11/20/rangers-are-back-celtic-disintegrate-gers-2-sellik-0/

…We’ve self-destructed on plenty occassions in this fixture. Barry Ferguson, Scott Wilson and Fernando Ricksen (twice) have got themselves sent off rather than do the mature thing of staying on the pitch to keep it respectable. But these players have been castigated by everyone at Ibrox for those actions. When it happens the other way - when Neil Lennon spends 75% of the match trying to get himself sent off or arrested, then he’s a hero. I’ll take Alex Mcleish’s way of losing any day. The second I see a Rangers manager running on to the pitch to laud one of our players for spitting on an opposition scarf, responding to crowd chants he instigated himself with his incitement and putting more energy into badgering the referee and winding-up opponents than he did into playing the ball, then that’s a Rangers manager I’ll want rid of….
