PETER GRIPER PICKS AND PECKS HIS BIT IN PAPERS
Lawell is almost as sleazy an exploiter of the bar-room Celtic mindset as Martin O’Feel was in 2003. All this talk of the league’s “integrity” is so fatuous but shit-stirring as to be libelous: The weather, Scotland’s UEFA 2008 campaign and the tragic death of Phil ODonnell are the reasons for popstponements - what respect do such unforseen acts of god have for the “integrity” of the SPL.
He wants to call us cheats but knows that would finally expose him and his club for the scum they are. Instead he engages in amateur semantics.
The SPL also scheduled a full card for the weekend of the CIS League Cup final. SOMEONE would obviously have to cancel a league fixture that day. But you don’t hear anyone at Ibrox whinging about being punished for doing well as O’Neill did in 2003 when Celtic were chasing just TWO competitions. We’re after another three, on top of teh one we’ve already won.
Let’s be hoinest - THAT’s what irks the fuck out of Lawell, McGeadie and the hooped horrors who suddenly invade this blog..
We’ve accomodated the SFA, the SPL and respected the memory of Phil O’Donnell (at Cetic’s PROPER insistence). Even if we go out at the UEFA cup semi we could be playing more than three games a week to fulfill a calendar which has been crowded by factors completely out of our hands - in fact by factors where, in some cases, we’ve been asked to postpone our games and have been HAPPY TO OBLIGE.
Only Celtic coudl be allowed to twist this into an attack on sporting integrity and escape the censure such sick, twisted thinking normally deserves.
We’re not asking to play less games per week than “anyone else”. We’re still gonnae have to play three a week til the end of the season - THAT’s the fair price of success - yet still Lawell toes that shit-stirring under-hand line of NOT QUITE calling us cheats but ensuring the season ticket sales for next season go up as the myth of Celtic being oppressed continues.
What a cunt.
Kevin Thomson takes a dive - it’s the start of a national outrage. The SFA chief executive is suddenly talking about an “initiative against cheats”, the papers and TV are full of anti-cheating invective. Scott MacDonald takes a dive - smiles at the cameras to acknowledge it - no-one bothers even mentioning it again (quite right, btw - these thinsg happen) because, of course, MacDonald took his dive in a game Celtic WON and Rangers LOST.
What we did get after last Wednesday, however, was a sudden deluge of people who think a goal shoudl automatically be given when a player handles the ball on the line and stops a clear goal-scoring opportunity - this simply because Celtic missed the penalty which followed Cuellar’s dismissal.
This is the strongest possble hint fo what will happen if we start yielding to Celtic-mindedness: They will not stop until they are awarded automatic victory in every match and the opposition fined for simply THINKING about the newly-designated hate crime of beating the perpetually victimised angels in green and white.
Basically, if Rangers win, it’s unfair - and the current noise from Celtic’s OFFICIALS (not just some player being dragged into a silly quote as per De Boer in 2003) tells us, above all else, that they think Rangers will win the SPL. And this is how they react to coming second. I’m utterly sick of Ragers not being allowed a victory or even a good season because the howls from the bitterest club in Brtain are given so much credence.
Even when we were fnsihing third and having our longest ever unwinning run under McLeish, the whole concept of “dignity” came under unrelenting attack from people who don’t know how to win properly, never midn lose with a bit of class.
Celtic have no respect for sport because, for them, it’s never been about sport - sport is a concept which involves you being beaten, even occassionaly and, for Celtic, it’s certainly never been about an objective truth.
I can’t wait for Sunday so, if nothing else, I can tell these cunts what I think of them to their face.
“Integrity”? They couldnae fucking spell it.
Now, let’s think about a real game against a club from a country which takes disrespect for football and sport to a whole new level: An ITALIAN club come to Ibrox tomorrow night.
Tonight I’ll give that some because, FIORENTINA is all that counts now. Such local concerns are a disgusting embarassment when compared to the glamouir of Fiorentina and a UEFA cup semi.
